At St Michael’s Federation, we believe it is important for children to engage in regular physical activity. This provides children with numerous benefits, improving both physical health as well as mental health. Children who engage in physical activity are happier, more resilient and are more trusting of their peers and physical activity can help to improve self-esteem, emotional well-being and lower anxiety and depression.

Each year the government allocates each school PE and sports premium funding. We are accountable for how we spend this money and therefore publish a breakdown of spending of our premium and the impact this has had on our pupils. .

As a summary, we spend our PE and sports premium funding on the following:

• Transport to and from sporting events and competitions
• Specialist coaching
• Chance to Shine Cricket programme
• Sports Equipment
• Swimming Lessons for all pupils
• Lifeguard provision
• Outdoor and Adventurous Learning Opportunities
